It hasn't taken long for Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson to make a positive impression on his new team. The rookie out of Florida has used the offseason to impress his teammates and coaches on and off the field.

Of course, Richardson has no trouble turning heads with his physical stature or cannon for an arm. He has made plays that has wowed media in attendance during OTAs and minicamp.

The latest bit of Richardson news is more evidence that he has what it takes to be a franchise quarterback. Richardson has handled the quarterback competition well to this point, and he has acknowledged that he needs to put the work in for the Colts.

“For one, my position and the light that I’m in — I can’t do the bare minimum," Richardson told the media during minicamp. The team would not allow that, I would not allow that for myself."

Richardson knows he needs to go the extra mile in order for himself and the team as a whole to be successful. That level of maturity pairs very well with the athletic profile that the rookie brings to the table.

There is no doubt that quarterback Gardner Minshew has been a valuable asset to Richardson in that regard. The veteran signal caller and the first-year passer have helped each other in the eyes of head coach Shane Steichen.

"Obviously, being with Anthony (Richardson) and Anthony is seeing how (Minshew) works. When you have that veteran presence around with a young quarterback to see that, I always think that helps," said Steichen.

Although it's still early in the offseason prior to his first NFL snaps, Anthony Richardson is wasting no time in showing everybody that he has what it takes to lead the Colts.
