There have been a lot of negative comments shared about Anthony Richardson over his first two years in the NFL with the Indianapolis Colts. No matter how you feel about him as a player, I think how he decided to spend this past weekend tells a lot about him as a person. Someone who wants to give back the blessings he has received to the next generation.
This Friday and Saturday, Richardson decided to hold two different camps to give back to children in the Gainesville, Florida area. The first, called the "Read like a Gator" event, where he partnered with the Boys & Girls Club of Northeast Florida to help kids improve in the classroom. The second being a football camp where he was able to share his experiences being a scholarship athlete and starting QB at the University of Florida, and going on to become a first-round pick in the NFL.
Richardson is entering a make or break training camp and is still recovering from a shoulder injury that held him out of mandatory minicamp. Still, he chose to carve out some of his time to help the community that had given so much to him. That is an admirable quality for someone who is still only 23 years old. The best QB is going to win during the Colts training camp battle between him and Daniel Jones. However, I don't think it takes much common sense to see why the best route forward for everyone is for Richardson to take the reins and prove he can be the franchise QB the Colts drafted him to be.
