The Indianapolis Colts are entering a new era. Head coach Shane Steichen is entering his first season at the helm, and the Colts now have their quarterback of the future in Anthony Richardson.
Richardson is the spark that the Colts have needed behind center. He is an elite athlete at signal caller that plays an exciting brand of football. Several highlight reels are coming to Indianapolis.
Now officially part of the franchise, Richardson and the Colts revealed which jersey number that he will be wearing in blue. He wore No. 15 with Florida, but he's made the decision to switch that up in the NFL.
Richardson isn't changing it up too much, though. He will be wearing the No. 5 jersey with Indianapolis, effectively just dropping the "1" from his collegiate uniform.
And he has a good reason for it. Richardson explained that he wore No. 5 while growing up playing football. Therefore, bringing that number back while with the Indianapolis Colts very well could be a good omen for what is to come.
"I feel like that set the foundation," Richardson told the media about the number change.
Whatever number he is wearing, Colts fans have to be excited about what Richardson is bringing to the franchise. He is not lacking any confidence as he enters the NFL, that's for sure.
“I am going to bring energy," Richardson said. "I am going to bring hard work. God willing – I’m going to bring a Super Bowl.”
The Indianapolis Colts have their new face of the franchise in Anthony Richardson. Now with his number revealed and the first-round in the rearview mirror, the excitement is only rising.
