Sunday morning brought devasting news to fans of the Indianapolis Colts. After Ian Rapport of NFL Network shared that there is fear growing that Anthony Richardson could be out for the rest of the season.

While Colts head coach Shane Steichen didn't have good news to share on the topic, he did give a statement that allows fans to hope.

Steichen spoke with the media on Monday and shared that the team is still evaluating the best next steps for Richardson in his recovery.

While it sounds like surgery is undoubtedly on the table, they haven't come to that decision just yet. Richardson's long-term health is the main priority for himself and the team. While surgery would end his season, the team has to focus on his long-term health and doing what is best for that. We will have to wait for a final decision to be made, but as of right now, he remains on IR with a chance to return this season. And at this point, a chance is more than we expected following Rapoport's update Sunday.
