The Indianapolis Colts made an abundance of moves this week to finalize their initial 53-man roster. One of the team’s most shocking decisions was to only keep four LBs on their active roster to start the year. However, it appears they are already working on addressing that issue.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the team is set to host a familiar face on Thursday in LB Antony Walker Jr.
The Colts are set to work out their former LB and draft pick, Anthony Walker Jr.

The Colts selected Walker Jr. in the fifth round of the 2017 NFL Draft. He went on to spend four years with the franchise, recording two seasons with 100+ tackles, as well as another where he fell just short at 92. On top of his solid success on the field, Walker was viewed as one of the top leaders on the Colts’ defense during his time here. If the Colts get a deal done with Walker, he would be rejoining multiple former defensive teammates from his time here in Indianapolis: DeForest Buckner, Zaire Franklin, and Kenny Moore II.
Since leaving the Colts, Walker has spent time with the Cleveland Browns, Miami Dolphins, and spent this past training camp with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Walker’s not making the Buccaneers roster shocked people who believed that once he was healthy, he would return to the team due to the glowing reviews head coach Todd Bowles had to say about him during the offseason. For more on that, I spoke with my colleague covering the Buccaneers for A to Z Sports, Evan Winter.
How Anthony Walker Jr. looked in his most recent stop with the Buccaneers
“The Bucs’ decision to release Anthony Walker is strange considering he’s reportedly healthy and could’ve come off the NFI. Todd Bowles talked him up all offseason, and he was expected to play a key depth role, while also guiding youngsters like SirVocea Dennis. The Bucs’ depth at inside linebacker was absolutely destroyed last year, too, so one would think the team would want to avoid another potential situation like that in 2025.
Regardless, if signed, Walker will immediately boost the Colts’ depth at linebacker, and he can even take over a primary role in case of injury or other circumstance.” – Evan Winter, A to Z Sports Co-Managing Editor
