The Indianapolis Colts couldn’t do anything themselves to increase their lead in the AFC South in Week 11, as they were on bye. So, they had to sit back and watch their divisional rivals, hoping to get some help from other teams. Sadly, things didn’t fall in their favor, and they saw their lead in the AFC South decrease as a result.

Texans and Jaguars gain ground on the Colts in the race for the AFC South crown

The Colts entered Week 11 with a two-and-a-half-game lead over the Jacksonville Jaguars and a three-and-a-half-game lead over the Houston Texans. The Jaguars played a 7-3 Los Angeles Chargers team and were coming off a rough loss to the Texans in Week 10. They bounced back in a big way, though, as they throttled the Chargers 35-6. Now they sit just two games behind the Colts in the AFC South.

The Texans went head-to-head with another AFC South team in the 1-8 Tennessee Titans. A Titans win would have benefited the Colts in two ways. Most importantly, it would have given the Colts a bigger lead on the Texans in the division.

Secondly, it would have loosened the Titans’ current grip on the number one pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, as they are the only team with just one win this year. Unfortunately, the C.J. Stroud-less Texans found a way to pull out a narrow 16-13 win, thanks to a last-second field goal.
