Anthony Richardson's rookie season was cut way too short after suffering a shoulder injury, but he was able to flash his dynamic ability as both a passer and a runner.
And Kay Adams shared on her show Up & Adams why she believes Richardson is the NFL's biggest Wild Card entering the 2024 season.
Richardson only appeared in four games during his rookie season, two of which his day ended early due to injury. As a result, he finished his rookie season only by attempting 84 passes, in which he completed 50 for 577 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception. He also added 136 yards and four touchdowns on the ground.
It might not have been as large of a sample size as other rookie QBs, but Kay Adams and many others seem to believe that Richardson showed enough that the consenus outlook for him heading into year two should be a positive one. She even posed the question, "Why are we sleeping on Anthony Richardson? It's not how good can he be, its why don't we get it collectively." She shared her thoughts in detail by saying the following.
"The highlights we got last year were insane; we collectively forget. We only saw him start and finish two games. That's why we forget, right? He missed almost the entire year, and Jonathan Taylor missed half the season with injuries and the contract situation. But the Colts were a game and really just a play away from making the playoffs. It speaks volumes of the talent on the roster that one of the most badass to the point doesn't give an F GMs I know Chris Ballard has assembled. And the unheralded coaching of Shane Steichen. Now if you take that and throw a season of Jonathan Taylor into the mix where he's healthy, and the respefcully alien skill set that Richardson has. Is there a more slept on team than the Colts this year? I don't think so."

Teammates and coaches on the Colts have raved about how Richardson has looked coming back from surgery. If he truly can shake the rust during off-season programming and literally and figuratively hit the road running for his sophomore season, I think he will prove Adams and many others right.
