The Indianapolis Colts won the game over the Arizona Cardinals in Week 6, but it was far from pretty. The defense especially struggled throughout, but thankfully, they were able to make a play when they needed it most to force a turnover on downs in the red zone to ice the game. One of the players who had a rough performance was LB Zaire Franklin, and now the NFL is also punishing him ahead of Week 7.

The NFL announced that they handed out 21 fines from the Week 6 slate, one of them being Franklin. Franklin was fined $11,593 for a late hit he had on a Cardinals offensive player in the fourth quarter. The play also drew a flag and gave a Cardinals team that appeared to be approaching a rare punt during the game to extend their drive and ultimately score a touchdown. So now, not only did the play hurt the Colts’ defense, but it also hurt Franklin’s wallet.

The Colts’ defense gave up 27 points on the day to a Cardinals offense that was without QB Kyler Murray for the entire game and WR Marvin Harrison Jr. for the majority of it. Former Colts QB Jacoby Brissett got the start for Arizona and completed 27 of his 44 pass attempts for 320 yards and two touchdowns. Hopefully, this game was a wake-up call for the defense, and we see an inspired outing in Week 7. However, they will have to do it without their star CB Charvarius Ward. Sounds like a good time for Franklin to step up and put last week’s poor performance in the rear view mirror and make a significant impact vs. the Chargers.
