Daniel Jones and the Colts have done something that not even Peyton Manning and Andrew Luck were able to accomplish in Indy
The Colts 2025 offense’s start to the season transcends legends from the franchises history
The Indianapolis Colts’ win over the Arizona Cardinals in Week 6 has them at 5-1 to start the year. Many expected the Colts to struggle this season due to skepticism about Daniel Jones as the starting quarterback (myself included). Not only were those people wrong about the Colts, but they were wrong about Jones.
The Colts’ offense with Jones has been arguably the best in the NFL through six weeks. The team has scored the most points of any team with 194, three more than the Detroit Lions. That stat is even more impressive because no Colts team in the Super Bowl era has ever scored 194 points through the first six weeks of the season. That includes offenses led by the team’s greatest quarterbacks since moving to Indianapolis, Peyton Manning and Andrew Luck.
The 2025 Colts offense is playing at a level not even Peyton Manning’s teams could match
Manning is no question the greatest player ever to represent the horseshoe. However, offenses led by him in Indianapolis never scored 194 points through six weeks.
The most scored by the Colts with Manning at QB was 193 in 2007. That team ended the season scoring 450 points, and it’s worth noting that back then, teams only played 16 games. This made their season average just over 28 points per game; in comparison, the Colts this season are averaging over 32 points per game.
During Luck’s time with the Colts, the most his offenses ever scored through six weeks was 189 in 2014. They finished the year with 458 points with an average of just under 29 points per game. Currently, the Colts are on pace to finish this year with 549 points, and if they were still playing a 16-game season, they would be on pace to score 517 points.
Jones and the Colts are playing remarkably right now, and if they keep it up, they will etch themselves into the record books as one of the greatest offenses in the franchise’s history. Jones isn’t the only one who deserves credit, though. Jonathan Taylor leads the league in rushing, Tyler Warren leads all TEs in receiving yards, and the Colts’ offensive line has allowed the fewest sacks in the league this season, with only five.
