Since joining the Indianapolis Colts, Daniel Jones has kept his head down and worked on being the best quarterback he can be. He hasn’t let the negative opinions of his failed tenure with the New York Giants deter him from turning his career around. Even after a fantastic start to the year, Jones still hasn’t been one to puff out his chest and talk about his accomplishments; he’s always pointed back to the team as a whole.

Following the Colts’ Week 7 win over the Los Angeles Chargers, he was approached for a post-game interview, just as he has been numerous times this season. This time, we got to see a little bit of fire from Jones, who, in a few words, let the national media know exactly how he feels about him and the Colts being underestimated.

Daniel Jones had an iconic response to those who doubted him and the Colts

Before a question was asked, the CBS reporter shared, “Those of us on the outside, I think, are a little surprised about how well this team has played to start the season.” He then spun it into a question towards Jones, asking, “What do we need to know about this group that we didn’t know going into the year?” The answer we were all expecting would have been Jones just sharing how strong this group plays together and how much belief they have in each other. That’s not how he chose to begin his statement, though.

“I mean, I don’t know, it sounds like y’all didn’t know much,” said Jones. He ended with a demeanor that fans would be more accustomed to hearing. “We’re just gonna keep going, keep working. We have a lot of confidence, a lot of good players, guys that work hard and do the right things.”

At the end of the day, Jones has led the Colts to a fantastic 6-1 record and has their offense ranking among the best in the league, and it’s on pace to be one of the best ever. So, it’s safe to say he’s earned the right to make that type of statement. It’s also a strong testament to how confident the Colts’ starting quarterback has become during his first seven games with the franchise.
