The Indianapolis Colts defensive line has been fantastic to begin the 2023 season. After watching Monday Night Football, they are likely licking their lips at the thought of playing the Los Angeles Rams offensive line.
The Rams allowed a season-high six sacks to the Cincinnati Bengals during their Monday Night Football matchup in Week 3.
The Colts are currently tied for the 2nd most sacks in the NFL with 12 on the season. The Bengals, who just recorded six sacks against the Rams, sit at nine sacks on the season, six of which came during Monday Night Football against the Rams.
So far in 2023, the Rams have allowed nine sacks through three games:
Sacks allowed each week:
- Week 1 @ Seattle Seahawks: 2 sacks
- Week 2 Vs. San Francisco 49ers: 1 sack
- Week 3 @ Cincinnati Bengals: 6 sacks
You may be asking yourself why did the Rams all of sudden allow that many sacks to the Bengals. I believe it had to do with two things. The first is the overall skill of the Bengals defensive line, and second losing their starting LT Joe Noteboom during the matchup to a knee injury, which they will be monitoring this upcoming week.
This would lead one to say that the Rams could have an even tougher task on their hand when it comes to stopping the Colts front in Week 4.
Colts 2023 Sack Leaders:
- Kwit Paye: 3 sacks
- Samson Ebukam: 2 sacks
- DeForest Buckner: 2 sacks
- Taven Bryan: 2 sacks
- Zaire Franklin: 1 sack
- E.J. Speed: 1 sack
- Jake Martin: 1 sack
The Colts pass rush will attempt to continue their early 2023 success this upcoming week when they will take on the Rams, who lost starting LT Joe Noteboom due to a knee injury during their Week 3 matchup. If he is not able to go, this matchup would become even more disastrous for the Rams in Week 4.
