Dwight Freeney let the world know it's time for his former Colts teammate to join him in the Hall of Fame

Indianapolis Colts legendary pass rusher Dwight Freeney is joining the Pro Football Hall of Fame as a member of the class of 2024 next month.
And he's already banging the table for one of his Colts teammates to join him.
Freeney spoke during media availability ahead of the American Century Golf Championship Tournament. And Pro Football Network Senior NFL Reporter Adam Beasley was able to share Freeney's clear endorsement for his former Colts teammate Reggie Wayne.
"I think unfortunately for Reggie, you know, [people think] he was a product of, you know, Peyton and Marvin Harrison and how great they were, and people just can’t believe there could be another guy out on that field that was also as great as those guys,”
Freeney shared the reason many believe Wayne is still having to wait his turn for the Hall of Fame. Many believe Wayne was just the product of an elite Colts offense. Wayne spoke out against that thought process on social media. I shared earlier this offseason why those notions are overblown by comparing him to a WR who, like Freeney, is a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame class of 2024. Freeney went on to share why he also disagrees with those who have that opinion towards Wayne.
"Marvin left, you know, [and people] kind of said, OK, now it’s Reggie’s show. If he wasn’t good or he was a guy that was just there just because or succeeded just because Marvin was there, he proved everybody wrong."
"His stats continued to go like this and he kept dominating when everyone knew, ‘OK, we gotta stop Reggie Wayne. Let’s roll the coverage, let’s double-team him, and he still did his thing. I know at some point, Reggie is going to be in the Hall of Fame. It’s just unfortunate for him that he has to wait as long as he has to wait, you know. And it’s not easy."
Wayne continues to wait for his dream of joining the Pro Football Hall of Fame to come true. He is a five-time finalist, and each time, he is left waiting for that desired knock on the door to welcome him into the Hall of Fame. I think I speak for all Colts fans when I say I agree wholeheartedly with Freeney that Wayne's long wait needs to come to an end in 2025.
NFL Analyst gave a disrespectful prediction for the Colts’ 2024 season
The Indianapolis Colts were able to go 9-8 last season despite them starting their backup QB for most of the season. Following the year, they retained nearly all their in-house free agents, with the only notable players leaving in free agency being backups Gardner Minshew (QB) and Zack Moss (RB). As well as having a […]
The likelihood of Jonathan Taylor and Anthony Richardson breaking the Colts single-season rushing records for RBs and QBs in 2024
The Indianapolis Colts 2024 Training Camp is right around the corner, with players set to report on June 24. Before the 2024 season begins, I want to look at the Colts franchise single-season records. And share how likely it is that each could be broken this year. This series will be broken up into four […]
