The 2025 NFL Scouting Combine on-field drills will begin on Thursday, February 27, in Indianapolis, Indiana, but the importance of the event will start even earlier.
Colts fans, for example, will want to mark next Tuesday on their calendars, as they will get the rare opportunity to hear from head coach Shane Steichen and general manager Chris Ballard during the offseason.
Shane Steichen and Chris Ballard set to speak on the Colts upcoming offseason at the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine

Both Steichen and Ballard will speak with the media on hand Tuesday at the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine. They both will likely hear questions surrounding the team's in-house free agents and how they view the current state of their roster ahead of free agency and the 2025 NFL Draft. Ballard will go first at 4:30 p.m., and Steichen will speak an hour later at 5:30 Eastern Standard Time.
If past interviews tell us anything, Steichen will hold a lot of things close to the chest but should have some insightful thoughts and takeaways from the 2024 season and where the team needs to be better in 2025. On the other hand, Ballard tends to be a bit more open in these environments. Last year, for example, he openly said that the Colts would use the franchise tag on Michael Pittman Jr. if they weren't able to agree to a new deal, which they ultimately did do. This will also be the first time Steichen or Ballard has spoken publicly since the team decided to hire Lou Anarumo as their new defensive coordinator. So it'll be interesting to hear their thought process on whether that change could cause a shift from the brass' typical offseason philosophy as they look to improve on that side of the ball. From the outside looking in, it feels that making this drastic defensive change would point toward them being more aggressive than usual to improve that side of the ball.
Which free agent players from new Colts defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo’s past make the most sense for the team to sign when free agency begins
The Indianapolis Colts made a big change to kick off their offseason by parting ways with their defensive coordinator, Gus Bradley. After an extensive search with multiple highly respected candidates, they ultimately hired Lou Anarumo, who was most recently with the Cincinnati Bengals in 2024, to be their new DC. This is a drastic defensive […]
The Colts won’t have to utilize a roster tool they used last offseason which should cause less headaches
Last offseason, the Indianapolis Colts had multiple significant in-house free agents, who ended up being their main focus. One of them was star wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr., whom the team used the franchise tag on.Ultimately, Pittman Jr. and the Colts agreed to a new three-year contract, and he never played on the tag. And […]
