The Colts have a meeting scheduled to speak with a 2025 NFL Draft prospect who would fit a need on their roster perfectly
The Indianapolis Colts may have their starter at running back in place for 2025, with Jonathan Taylor, but behind him on the depth chart is pretty bare. The Indianapolis Colts may have their starter at running back in place for 2025, with Jonathan Taylor, but behind him on the depth chart is pretty bare.
They need to add players that can take some of the load off his plate. And finding players that can impact the game in ways Taylor doesn't, such as pass protection or receiving ability out of the backfield, would help do that. Now we know the team is set to meet with a player who could be a perfect addition to the RB room.
Colts set to have a formal interview with Oklahoma State RB Ollie Gordon II at the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine

The Colts are set to meet with Oklahoma State RB Ollie Gordon II this week at the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine. Gordon was incredible in 2023 as he led the FBS in rushing yards with 1,732 yards and led the Big 12 with 21 rushing touchdowns. 2024 wasn't as successful for Gordon and Oklahoma State. In 12 games, he only recorded 880 yards and 13 rushing touchdowns.
Even after the statistical regression in 2024, Gordon's talent is evident on film. He has the talent to become a great starting RB in the league and could add a solid backup to Taylor, who can actually log significant carries in the role. But he would be an excellent fit for the Colts because he is a fantastic blocker at the RB position. Part of the reason for this is his huge frame for an RB, with him standing at 6'1" and weighing 233 lbs.
Earlier in the draft cycle, Gordon participated at the 2025 Senior Bowl in Mobile, Alabama. There, he showed his ability as a blocker is truly a skill. He was able to stop multiple linebackers in their tracks. And at his size, he likes to bring the physicality to defenders. That's not something we often see from offensive players. There is still a lot of time left in the draft process before the 2025 NFL Draft kicks off, but Gordon is a player I will be watching closely this week when/if he tests because a RB duo of Taylor and Gordon should excite a lot of fans.
