The Indianapolis Colts have had numerous quarterbacks who have spent time with the franchise over the years, including some who caught the attention of fans without ever playing a meaningful down with the team.

A few that come to mind over the years would be Deon Cain, Chad Kelly, and Duron Carter. They didn’t pan out with the Colts or in the NFL at all, but they were able to stand out during training camp and/or the preseason. As a result, they stick in the minds of fans long after their playing careers end.

A player that fits that mold in a more recent capacity is QB Jason Bean. His time with the Colts didn’t last as long as he or some fans would have hoped. But it appears he is going get an opportunity to show what he can do on a football field after all.

Former Colts UDFA Jason Bean was selected by the Louisville Kings in the UFL draft

The Colts signed Bean as an undrafted free agent ahead of the 2024 season. This was after his six-year collegiate career at North Texas and Kansas. He finished his career appearing in 51 games, throwing for 5,969 yards and 55 touchdowns.

He completed 11 of his 17 pass attempts for 107 yards and his only passing touchdown of his time in the NFL. A big part of his game, though, is his dual-threat ability, thanks to his talent as a runner.

He was selected in the recent UFL draft by the Louisville Kings. He will have to compete with other QBs on their roster, but this feels like the closest he’s been to getting the opportunity to play in a professional football game. Colts fans were intrigued by the small sample size they saw of Bean, and now they might get to see what he is really made of in the UFL.
