When anyone hears the name Andrew Luck, their minds instantly go to his shocking early retirement from the Indianapolis Colts and the NFL in 2019.
And now, six years later, he finds himself in the headlines again by making a shocking move that could shake up the college football world.
Andrew Luck's decision to fire Stanford's head coach could cause a domino effect across the college football world
Pete Thamel of ESPN reported that Stanford has decided to fire head coach Troy Taylor. He later shared a statement from Stanford General Manager Andrew Luck explaining why this move happened.
"After continued consideration, it is evident to me that our program needs a reset. In consultation with university leadership, I no longer believe that Coach Taylor is the right coach to lead our football program."
Luck didn't mince his words and took full accountability for this decision. The timing of the firing is what I find the most interesting, though, with the 2025 college football season now around the corner. Now Stanford will begin the search for a new head coach, and if they are able to lure an acting head coach into the NCAA, that would create yet another head coaching search for another college program. This could create a tricky domino effect in the college football world at an unfortunate time, with spring practices around the corner. Ironically, unfortunate timing is something Colts fans would probably say about Luck announcing his retirement during the preseason ahead of the 2019 season.

The college all-star games and the NFL Scouting Combine are in the rearview mirror, and pro days are off and running. Any contact with top draft prospects could be notable this time of year, […]
The first steps towards the Colts losing a multi-year starter is in the works but the team has been preparing for it
A year ago, the Indianapolis Colts retained all of their notable in-house free agents. One of those was starting safety Julian Blackmon, whom the team re-signed to a one-year deal. This offseason has been a very different approach, as the team has let their top in-house free agents sign elsewhere. And now Blackmon may be the […]
