The Colts are in the middle of a free fall, and to stop it in its tracks, they have to end their losing streak in Jacksonville
The Colts are nearing a catastrophic late-season collapse, and to prevent it, they must beat the Jaguars in Jacksonville for the first time since 2014.
It wasn’t long ago that the Colts were 7-1 atop the AFC and the AFC South standings. They’ve now lost three of their last four and have plummeted to 8-4, sixth in the AFC and second in the AFC South. Their most recent loss came in Week 13, when they fell 16 -20 to the Houston Texans.
The Colts and Jacksonville Jaguars now both sit at 8-4, with the Texans a game back at 7-5; the race for the AFC South will likely come down to the wire. This makes the Colts’ free fall in real time even worse. They have to get back on track and do it quickly. Their next chance will be this week as they travel to Jacksonville to take on the Jaguars, a place they haven’t won since 2014.

1st place in the AFC South is on the line during the Colts vs Jaguars in Week 14
The Colts always have the goal of making the playoffs, but over the last decade, they’ve had some curses that need to be broken on their to-do list as well. Entering the season, the Colts hadn’t won a season opener, a game in Jacksonville, or the AFC South since 2014. They’ve broken one curse so far by beating the Miami Dolphins in Week 1. Now, it’s time to get the other two off their backs.
Their yearly trip to Jacksonville has arrived, and it’s coming at the most pivotal point of the Colts’ season. They are teetering towards a full-on collapse, where everything the team sought to do is right in front of them. To do that, though, they have to get back in the win column, and it needs to start in Week 14 vs. the Jaguars.
Having to most likely play this game without Sauce Gardner, who suffered a calf strain vs. the Texans, is unfortunate. The Colts will now be without arguably their two best and most important defensive players in DeForest Buckner and Gardner.
It certainly won’t be easy, but the Colts can’t make excuses. They need a win, and they need a win now, and it seems very fitting that for the Colts to save their season, they must finally break their losing streak in Jacksonville.
