The Indianapolis Colts had GM Chris Ballard on their official podcast during their bye week.

He shared multiplied insights on this years team, including his first impressions on rookie head coach Shane Steichen.

Shane Steichen:

To begin the episode Ballard got to speak on the culture and leadership that head coach Shane Steichen has brought to the team to have them at 5-5 this season.

"I give Shane and the staff, and the players a lot of credit. Especially with the in and out at the QB position, offensive line, secondary. We've had to make a lot of adjustments along the way, which is typical in a season."

Ballard would go on to speak directly on Steichen and how he's been with each bump in the road the team has come across this season.

"Here's the thing I really enjoy about Shane, it doesn't faze him. You never hear Woe is Me, no Its like who do we have up, alright lets find a way to make it work. And that's really encouraging."

With the multiple adversitys the team has faced this season, Ballard spoke to how Steichen has approached them, and how he has won over the locker room through these efforts.

"Heres the thing, anytime you are doing something for the first time, you are going to have some bumps. He's very autheic, he is who he is, he isnt trying to be somebody he's not. And I think players gravitate to that, they appreciate somebody who is the same person each and every day in their personality. Look he's very demanding, he wants what he wants, and he's going to tell you. And that makes my job and my staff's job a lot easier when you know hey look I need this to make this go. And he's real with them each and every single day, and he's real with himself. He doesn't just sit there and blame people when things go wrong. No he takes accountability when its his fault, and he will hold the players accountable when its there fault."
