There is top-level talent on the Indianapolis Colts' roster. Running back Jonathan Taylor is the biggest headliner. Linebacker Shaquille Leonard and offensive guard Quenton Nelson are also considered premier players.

But the Colts also have some rising talent, too. Michael Pittman has flashed at receiver, and Kenny Moore is an exciting player in the secondary. However, one player that deserves more recognition is defensive lineman Grover Stewart.

Stewart has developed into a quality player in the trenches. He is disruptive and productive from his defensive tackle position. And the Colts could be set to see an even better version of him next season.

In a ranking of the best defensive linemen in the NFL, Colts star DeForest Buckner landed safely inside the top-10 at the position. That's no surprise, as Buckner has been a force for years in Indianapolis.

Further down, Stewart's name appears in the article. The Colts defensive linemen just missed out on the honorable mention section, but he did land in the "receiving votes" category.

For good reason. Stewart does not get the shine that some of his peers do. But he made 70 total tackles, nine tackles for a loss and hit the quarterback seven times last year.

Stewart is a force, particularly against the run. He uses his 6-foot-4 and 315-pound frame and brute strength to his advantage. Stewart clogs running lanes, gets off blocks, and makes tackles.

He plays a violent brand of football at defensive tackle and pairs that with high-level athleticism for the position. Which makes him such an impactful player on the Colts defense.

Grover Stewart is entering his final season on his current contract. A potential Pro Bowl campaign would earn the 30-year old defender a lot of money and reward him on stellar – but often overlooked – play.
