The Indiana Hoosiers winning the 2026 college football national championship is the biggest story in sports in quite some time. If the Indianapolis Colts are wide, they will look to add some of that Hoosier magic to their own roster this offseason.

Curt Cignetti pulled off one of the greatest showcases of coaching that the sports world has ever seen. Part of that was bringing in the right players to build a championship-caliber roster. Multiple of them are now on their way to the NFL.

The Colts need help at multiple positions, and there just so happens to be Hoosier players who could help solve its issues. Three stand out to me as options the Colts need to consider come April.

Aiden Fisher, LB

Some would say Aiden Fisher was the heart and soul of the Hoosiers’ championship defense and a major locker-room leader. Fisher is the exact type of person and player the Colts defense desperately needs.

The best part is that he is projected not to hear his name called until day three of the NFL Draft. Fisher has the makeup to be an absolute steal for whoever lands him, and the Colts would be wise to make sure they are the ones to reap the benefits.

D’Angelo Ponds, CB

If D’Angelo Ponds were just a few inches taller, he would be considered a first-round lock. His tape is excellent, as he has natural instincts in coverage, and despite his size, he makes sure opponents feel him when he lays a hit.

Ponds is expected to be a day two draft pick, so the Colts would have to use a second or third round pick to land the star CB. Some teams will see his size and close the book on him; that would be a mistake.

Ponds has exceeded expectations and proved people wrong at every step of his career. I don’t think the NFL will be any different. The Colts have Sauce Gardner locked up for the future, but Charvarius Ward’s status is still up in the air. Ponds may not look the part, but he’s shown he can be a lockdown outside CB.

Mikail Kamara, Edge

Mikail Kamara was fantastic for the Hoosiers in 2024. He led the team with 10 sacks and 15 tackles for loss in his first year at Indiana. His stat numbers dipped in 2025, leading some to assume he didn’t make a significant impact for the team; they would be mistaken.

His sack total dropped to just two in 2025, and he recorded only seven tackles for loss. Kamara’s production certainly dipped, but he kept his head down and kept trying to make plays, even if his efforts would lead to a teammate finishing with the sack and/or tackle.

If Kamara had matched his 2024 production, he likely would have ended up a day two selection in the 2026 NFL Draft. Now he is bound to hear his name called on day three. He is a more impactful edge rusher than that grade suggests, though. The Colts need to add multiple bodies to the room, and I think Kamara could be an excellent rotational player who makes plays in the run and pass game.
