Colts' Anthony Richardson aggravates former shoulder injury

Colts head coach Shane Steichen shared with the media head of OTA practice Thursday that Richardson will miss mini-camp next week and there is not currently a timetable for his return. He did share that they hope to have him back for training camp "at some point." This injury is an aggravation of the same AC joint that Richardson had surgery to repair in his rookie year, which cut his season short. On the bright side, Steichen shared that there is no expectation for surgery at this time, with rest being the suggested path forward.

The Colts are set to report for training camp on July 22, which gives Richardson a little over six weeks to get his shoulder right and be ready to compete day one of camp. If he is able to do that in the end, this won't really matter. Allowing a player to rest during mini-camp is a common practice around the league. But if he has to miss any time in training camp because of this, then Daniel Jones would be in the driver's seat for the Colts' 2025 starting QB job. If that becomes the reality, then I think it's safe to say the Anthony Richardson experiment in Indianapolis would be officially over. The next two months are going to be even more important for Richardson's NFL career than we previously thought.
