The 3-1 Indianapolis Colts are looking to get back on track after suffering their first loss of the season in Week 4 vs. the Los Angeles Rams. They are hosting the 1-3 Las Vegas Raiders, who have lost their last three matchups coming into this Week 5 matchup. The Colts, on paper, appear to be the better team, but they found out on Friday that they will have to go into Week 5 without two starters and multiple other players.

Colts’ final injury report ahead of Week 5

  • Alec Pierce, WR – Out
  • Kenny Moore II, CB – Out
  • Tyler Goodson, RB – Out
  • Daniel Scott, S – Out
  • Tyquan Lewis, Edge – Questionable

Following Friday’s practice, the Colts ruled out four players and listed another as questionable for Sunday’s game. Among the four players ruled out were two starters, CB Kenny Moore II and WR Alec Pierce. Both Moore II and Pierce also missed the team’s Week 4 matchup due to the same injuries, and the Colts seem to think it’ll take another week for them to return to live game action.

Look for the Colts to elevate veteran Mike Hilton from their practice squad yet again this week to fill in for Moore. And if I had to guess, the Colts will give Adonai Mitchell the chance to make up for his crucial mistakes in Week 4 as Pierce’s replacement in the starting lineup. The other option would be for the team to turn to veteran Ashton Dulin as the second starting outside WR and have Mitchell’s role be similar to what it would be if Pierce were healthy. I personally don’t think that is necessary, but Steichen has been pretty coy this week about their plan for Mitchell in Week 5.

The Colts will also be without RB Tyler Goodson and S Daniel Scott. With Goodson out again, I would expect the team’s second practice squad elevation of the week to come at RB. The options would be rookie Ulysses Bentley or veteran Ameer Abdullah. There was some good news that came from their final injury report of the week, though. Starting RG Matt Goncalves is back in the lineup, and the scare from Michael Pittman Jr. showing up on the report Thursday ended up being a false alarm as he was a full participant on Friday. Finally, if Tyquan Lewis, who is listed as questionable for Week 5, I’d expect rookie JT Tuimoloau to have the most significant role yet of his young career.
