The Indianapolis Colts attacked the 2023 NFL Draft with a plan: land a franchise quarterback and add as many athletes as possible to the roster. General manager Chris Ballard and head coach Shane Steichen succeeded at that on paper.

But the Colts are still looking at ways to upgrade different areas of the roster. That includes through the undrafted free agent market, veteran free agents, and even players in different leagues. They are leaving no stone unturned.

This week, it has been reported that the Colts are inviting one of the rising stars of the XFL to minicamp. Both Indianapolis and the Atlanta Falcons have invited wide receiver Jahcour Pearson after his strong performances.

Pearson leads the XFL in receiving in 2022. He has grabbed 60 catches and 670 receiving yards for the Seattle Sea Dragons. Obviously, his production and playmaking ability have caught the attention of the NFL.

On the collegiate level, Pearson totaled 26 passes for 392 yards while at Ole Miss during the 2021 season. He went undrafted, but it is clear that is taking advantage of the opportunities that have since come his way.

For the Colts, this makes since. There is certainly no downside to allowing a player like Pearson to try out for the team. Indianapolis could use more weapons to surround rookie Anthony Richardson with.

Best case, Pearson carries his momentum over and makes the roster. Worst case, the Colts did their due diligence by checking every avenue in hopes of bolstering the weapons on offense.

Either way, this is a cool development and shows how the XFL could be beneficial to NFL teams moving forward. Jahcour Pearson has risen to the occasion in a big way.
