The Indianapolis Colts' 51 sacks in 2023 were the most they've ever recorded in a single season since the team moved to Indianapolis.
The team made multiple moves this offseason to prioritize the future success of their pass rush. The team drafted Laiatu Latu with the 15th pick in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft and picked up the fifth-year option on their 2021 first-round pick, Kwity Paye.
And Paye already has his eyes on a big season in 2024 to repay the Colts for making that decision.
Paye set his career high for sacks in 2023 with 8.5 in 16 games. He's looking to smash those numbers in 2024, sharing with Justin Melo of The Draft Network his goals for the upcoming season, which includes having "12-15 sacks."
"I had 4.5 sacks as a rookie, 6.5 as a sophomore, and now 8.5 in my third season. I definitely want to get at least 10.5 sacks this season (laughs). I'm really shooting for 12-15 sacks, but double digits is the goal at the end of the day. I have to get there this year."
If Paye can record double-digit sacks this season, it would be the first time a Colts player has done so since Justin Houston had 11 in 2019. If he's able to reach his goal of 12, it would be the first time a Colts player has done so since Robert Mathis had 19.5 in 2013.
Last season was the first time in a while that it felt like the Colts' pass rush even had glimpses of elite production. If they are able to take another step forward this year, it would be massive for both the success of the team's defense and their goal of making the playoffs and beyond in 2024.

Multiple intriguing roster battles are incoming for the Indianapolis Colts 2024 Training Camp. This offseason, the Colts prioritized signing their own free agents, and as a result, they didn't lose a single projected starter for the upcoming season. But one of their biggest losses was seeing backup RB Zack Moss sign with the Cincinnati Bengals. So […]
The Colts top 5 2024 undrafted rookies ahead of training camp
The Indianapolis Colts didn't utilize the UDFA market as much in 2024 as in past years. However, multiple players will enter Training Camp with real aspirations of making the team's 53-man roster. During Training Camp, I will be tracking the team's UDFA class and ranking who I believe to be the team's top five in what […]
