Walley quickly impressed his Colts teammates and coaches after joining the team during rookie minicamp. And he used this to get off to a fast start in training camp. He was in an ongoing battle to be the team’s second starting outside cornerback, and many had begun to believe he had a significant lead for the job. Sadly, they will now have to wait till next season to see what Walley can do at the pro level.

Walley didn’t suffer this injury during the Colts’ preseason loss to the Baltimore Ravens, as he wasn’t active for the game. He actually suffered the injury during the team’s joint practice on Tuesday. The Colts ‘ third-round pick left practice early, but there wasn’t much information given on his status after. Following the game, when head coach Shane Steichen was asked about Walley’s status, he broke the news that his season was over. The Colts began came with the deepest CB room the team has had in quite a while. However, Jaylon Jones and Juju Brents have suffered hamstring injuries that have kept them out of practice and the preseason opener, and now Walley has torn his ACL and will miss the entire season. It will be interesting to see if the Colts elect to make a move at cornerback due to this news. If they don’t, the second starting cornerback job would probably belong to Samuel Womack III.
