Injuries keep piling up for the Indianapolis Colts, as Adam Schefter of ESPN reported that edge rusher Genard Avery is being placed on IR.

This was Avery's first season with the Colts, as he signed as a free agent prior to training camp. He made the most of his reps, impressing many of the staff in the process.

Prior to this season, Avery had spent time with three different NFL teams since being drafted in the 5th round of the 2018 NFL Draft by the Cleveland Browns.

  • 2018-2019:

  • 2019-2021:
    Philadelphia Eagles
  • 2022:
    Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Avery was making a solid case for the Colts to consider keeping him when they cut down their roster to 53. Now Avery will have to wait another year to try and prove himself yet again. We shall see if the Colts bring him back for the 2024 training camp after he rehabs the injury.
