Marvin Harrison is one of the all-time greats in Indianapolis Colts history. The Hall of Fame receiver put together a prolific professional career that has him in franchise lore.
Harrison earned six All-Pro honors and hauled in 128 touchdowns in the NFL. His connection with fellow Colts legend Peyton Manning was one of the best of all time.
Yet as good as Harrison was, his son is determined to be even better. Ohio State star Marvin Harrison Jr. has already established himself as a premier pro prospect, and he's admitted that his father provides him with added fuel.
Harrison Jr. burst onto the scene in a big way last season for the Buckeyes. He made 77 catches for 1,428 yards and 14 touchdowns as a sophomore. The hype surrounding him continues to grow.
"The most credit goes to him," Harrison told Nate Atkins of the Indy Star. "He could just be some guy who thinks he's better than everyone else and doesn't work, but it's the opposite. He's worked really hard to get to where he is."
So much hype that NFL scouts are already drooling about the possibility of adding MHJ to their roster next year. Harrison Jr. still has another season left of college football before he can become a draft prospect.
Even as the attention grows and the pressure increase, Harrison Jr. acknowledges the role that his Hall of Fame father has played in his development on and off the field.
"He's taught me pretty much everything I know ‒ more so the mentality of the game and how to approach the game," Harrison Jr. told Atkins. "I try to work as hard as he did. He obviously set the bar very high, and I have big shoes to fill, but I'm trying to get there."
The Indianapolis Colts are obviously focused on the upcoming 2023 NFL Draft. But it has to be tempting to think about adding the Colts legacy next April when the 2024 draft arrives.
