Colts find Laiatu Latu a new partner in crime and a QB to develop for the future in a new 2026 NFL 3-round mock draft
The Colts add talent on both sides of the ball in a brand new 3-round 2026 NFL mock draft despite them not having a first round pick.
The Indianapolis Colts are still very much in the hunt for a playoff spot and the title of AFC South champions. That doesn’t mean the upcoming offseason and the decisions the team will face don’t still loom large.
A new 2026 three-round mock draft from A to Z Sports showcased two selections by the Colts. One coming on each side of the ball, giving the team a day one starter and a player they would look to develop into a future starter.
Colts select Oklahoma EDGE R Mason Thomas and USC QB Jayden Maiava in a new 2026 NFL mock draft
Round 2, pick 54: R Mason Thomas, EDGE, Oklahoma

“This is the Colts’ first pick after they traded their first-round pick this year and next to the Jets for Sauce Gardner. The Colts only have two edge rushers on their roster under contract past this season, so they will likely have to add multiple this offseason. R Mason Thomas is someone many people are forgetting about because he has missed time due to an injury. I think he’d have a first-round talent, though, and could form a fun duo with Laiatu Latu going forward.” – A to Z Sports 3-round mock draft
If R Mason Thomas falls into round two, I think he is a player who needs to be near the top of the Colts’ draft board. In my opinion, Thomas is the best player on Oklahoma’s defense this season, and they’ve definitely missed him on the field. His ability to win with both his strength and speed makes him a great fit for the NFL. His best football appears to be ahead of him at the pro level and I hope that success comes in a Colts uniform.
Round 3, pick 85: Jayden Maiava, QB, USC

USC’s Jayden Maiava is a QB who, at one point this season, was being viewed as a first-round talent. He has had multiple bumps in the road during the season, though, and has definitely fallen out of consideration. If he declares for the 2026 NFL Draft, I do expect to see multiple teams show interest in him as a developmental option. I also think he would be a solid fit in Shane Steichen’s scheme, which would give him a better chance of becoming a starting-level QB in the NFL.
