NFL insider name drops the Indianapolis Colts as a potential landing spot for a new free agent ahead of the 2025 season
The Indianapolis Colts made a significant change to their defense this offseason by hiring Lou Anrumo to be their new defensive coordinator. The Colts didn't bring in any of Anarumo's former players this offseason, but a great opportunity to change that might have fallen in their laps. NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported that the Cincinnati Bengals are releasing LB Germaine Pratt, who was a leader and captain for Anarumo's defense in Cincinnati.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport links the Colts as a possible landing spot for Germaine Pratt

On top of Pratt being released, the Colts have now been linked as a top potential landing spot by multiple people across the league. One of which came from NFL Network's Ian Rapoport during his segment on The Pat McAfee Show. He shared that the Colts make a lot of sense as a team that could sign Pratt, given how highly Anarumo views him both as a person and a player.
He was ninth in the NFL in total tackles last year with 143, which led the Bengals. He also tied his career high with two interceptions and two forced fumbles in 2024. If the Colts added him to their LB room, he would join Zaire Franklin, who led the NFL with 173 total tackles last season. The Colts would have three players in the top nine total tackle list from last season, with safety Nick Cross finishing with 146 last year.
LB is one of the thinnest spots on the Colts roster, with the team letting 2024 starter in EJ Speed walk in the offseason. They are expected to start second-year player Jaylon Carlies, but after that, the room doesn't have a lot of promising candidates to play significant snaps in 2025. If the Colts sign Pratt and reunite him with Anarumo, the likely plan would be for Franklin and Pratt to be the starters, with Carlies seeing the field on obvious passing downs. It would raise the floor of the LB tremendously and set the Colts up to have a top 10 defense in the NFL on paper. And with the mystery surrounding the QB position, they will need their defense to live up to that hype if they want to return to the playoffs for the first time since 2021.
Should the Indianapolis Colts sign Jaire Alexander after the Green Bay Packers’ decision to release the Pro Bowl corner?
The Indianapolis Colts roster still has a few obvious holes as they approach training camp. Depending on how young players perform in camp, their second outside starting corner job could end up being one of them. A very appealing option to improve that spot just hit the market with the Green Bay Packers releasing Pro Bowl CB Jaire […]
Latest injury update for Anthony Richardson tells Colts fans exactly what they want to hear ahead of the team’s training camp
The Indianapolis Colts found themselves in the headlines last week with the news that Anthony Richardson is expected to miss the rest of the spring due to shoulder soreness in his throwing arm. Head coach Shane Steichen's unwillingness to commit to Richardson being back for the beginning of training camp in six weeks from now created […]
