Much of the focus surrounding the Indianapolis Colts and the 2023 NFL Draft is on the first-round. Specifically, what the Colts will do with their No. 4 selection and which quarterback will be the pick.

While that does deserve the attention, the Colts do hold other valuable picks in the draft. Especially in the second-round, where Indy is slotted to draft early on day two with the opportunity to fill roster needs.

One position that is of interest for the Colts is wide receiver. Indianapolis could use another weapon in the passing game alongside the established Michael Pittman. Fortunately, this draft class has multiple options for the team to consider.

The Athletic recently published a three-round mock draft. In there, the second-round selection for the Colts is North Carolina wide receiver Josh Downs. At No. 36, Downs was the fifth receiver taken in the mock.

Downs put together an impressive career for the Tar Heels that has him in the first-round conversation. He caught 195 passes for 2,364 yards and 19 touchdowns over his final two seasons on the collegiate level.

That kind of ability could give the Colts the boost that it desperately needs. Downs averaged more than 12 yards per reception while in Chapel Hill. He would instantly provide a reliable target to whoever is taking snaps behind center.

More and more prospects will emerge as the draft process moves forward. The NFL Combine and pro days will provide much more data on who the Colts could potentially add to the roster.

With that said, North Carolina wide receiver Josh Downs is certainly a name to keep tabs on for Indianapolis.
