Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay has never been shy to speak his mind with the media.

And he did just that when he gave quite the glowing review of what he sees in his franchise QB Anthony Richardson to Jori Epstein of Yahoo Sports

Irsay's love for his Colts and music has been well-documented over the years. So when he had the opportunity to combine those loves to share his personal belief in his rookie QB.

The quote Irsay mentions came from a music critic named Jon Landau. Landau was in attendance at Harvard Square Theater in Cambridge, Massachusetts, in 1974 for a Bonnie Raitt show. The opener for this show was a 25-year-old musician by the name of Bruce Springsteen. Landau saw something in Springsteen that day as he went on to share a raving review that Irsay paraphrased above.

"I saw rock and roll's future and its name is Bruce Springsteen."

– Music Critic Jon Landau in 1974

This quote may not be one the average music fan has sitting in their brain, but Irsay isn't your average music fan. To me, this shows just how much Irsay believes in Richardson as not only the Colts future but the future of the entire NFL. He could have given the typical "he's going to be special" or "we believe in him" answers. Instead, he elected to find this quote in his mind to properly convey his belief in Richardson going forward.

Say what you want about Irsay, but he's seen exceptional talent firsthand during his time as the owner of the Indianapolis Colts, and he's had positive and negative comments about players repping his team in the past. But this statement hits deeper for Irsay. He, maybe more than anyone, has wanted to find the successor to Andrew Luck, and he saw each attempt fail in recent years. And while they only got to see a glimpse into the player Richardson can be, he sees just how special he can be. Not only does he see how high Richardson's ceiling is, he believes he will reach it.
