The team released their first unofficial depth chart with the Colts preseason opener Saturday. While things will change, the opening depth chart gives us information on how things stand today.

While we wait to see who will play Saturday, let's examine the unofficial depth chart and share our immediate reactions.

Mo Alie-Cox as TE 1

The tight end position is one of the deepest positions on the Colts' roster this camp. A solid balance of young talent and veteran presence. With minimal members of the room who feel that their spot on the team is safe. Multiple members of the room have been out with injuries, including Cox himself, which makes the room even more of a mystery.

A big shocker from the team's first unofficial depth chart was veteran Mo Alie-Cox sitting at the top of the TE position. Many have mentioned Cox as a veteran to watch who could be cut come the end of training camp. Behind Alie-Cox at the moment is:

2. Kylen Granson

3. Drew Ogletree

4. Jelani Woods

5. Pharaoh Brown

6. Will Malory

7.  Michael Jacobson

8. La'Michael Pettway

9. Nick Eubanks

Dayo Odeyingbo not with the starters

Currently ahead of Dayo Odeyingbo on the depth chart is one of the Colts' biggest free agent signings of the offseason Samson Ebukam. Ebukam has had to miss time at the beginning of camp, which has allowed Odeyingbo plenty of time with the starters.

However, Ebukam is still listed as the starter opposite of Kwity Paye, a spot that Gus Bradley calls the LEO. The battle between Ebukam and Odeyingbo, the rest of camp, will be one to watch for sure, and I expect it may be a battle that will go down to the wire.

Lack of competition for the Colts offensive line

So far through training camp, the Colts haven't altered the starting offensive line at all. And that showed up on the team's unofficial depth chart as well.

The 2nd team offensive line lacks former starting experience, as Danny Pinter is the only member to start an NFL game.

Camp star atop the CB depth chart

Darrell Baker Jr. has been one of the brightest spots of training camp so far, and his play has earned him the top spot on the corner depth chart. Baker Jr.’s teammates and coaches have talked glowingly of his play any chance they have gotten.

But Baker Jr. isn't letting the hype get to his head, he is all business. I had the opportunity to ask him what's felt different this training camp for him, and his answer was, "Nothing for real, I feel like I've always been able to do this. All the work I did during the offseason, whenever I get the opportunity to step up for my brothers and my coaches, give me that trust you come in, do the right thing, and make the right plays."

Elected to not unofficially name a QB 1

Indianapolis Colts quarterbacks Gardner Minshew II (10), Anthony Richardson (5), and Sam Ehlinger (4) run in sync during day 6 of Colts Camp, Thursday, Aug. 3, 2023 at Grand Park.

The first depth chart of the year hardly holds any weight to how position battles will end. This is why teams normally just name starters for now on the release. The Colts though elected to include a small but important word by the QBs “or”.

So far through camp, it has been a true split for the team's QB 1 snaps between Gardner Minshew and rookie Anthony Richardson. Minshew has been the more consistent of the two, but it feels like every jaw-dropping moment of camp has been made by Anthony Richardson. It'll be interesting to see how the team handles the QBs during their preseason opener Saturday.
