The Pro Football Hall of Fame announced 25 modern-era semifinalists for the class of 2024.

Which included three all-time Indianapolis Colts greats.

Robert Mathis DE:

This is Mathis' 3rd time being selected as a semifinalist by the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The Colts drafted Mathis with the 138th pick in the 5th round of the 2003 NFL Draft. He would be named to five pro bowls during his 14-year career, spending all of them with the Colts. His best individual season came in 2013 when he led the NFL in sacks with 19.5 sacks and led the league in forced fumbles with eight, leading to him being named a first-team All-Pro. Mathis spent all 14 years of his NFL career with the Colts and is the franchise's all-time sack leader with 123.0 and won Super Bowl XLI with the team.

Dwight Freeney DE:

This is Frenney's 2nd time being selected as a semifinalist by the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The Colts drafted Freeney with the 11th pick of the 1st round in the 2002 NFL Draft. He would go on to have a 16-year career, 11 of those coming with the Colts from 2002 to 2012. He was named to seven pro bowls and was a three-time first-team All-Pro, all with the Colts. Freeney holds the 2nd most sacks in Colts franchise history with 107.5, only trailing Mathis. And he was a part of the Colts team that won Super Bowl XLI.

Reggie Wayne WR:

This is Wayne's fifth time being named a semifinalist by the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The Colts drafted Wayne with the 30th pick in the 1st round of the 2001 NFL Draft. He would go on to be named to six pro bowls during his 14-year career, spending all of them with the Colts. He also was named a first-team All-Pro in 2010; his best statistical season, though, came in 2007 when he caught 104 of his 146 targets for 1,510 yards (led the league) and ten touchdowns. And he was on the Colts team that won Super Bowl XLI.

Other semifinalists with Colts ties:

  • Andre Johnson WR

Johnson signed with the Colts as a free agent in 2015 and spent one season with the team. He appeared in all 16 of the team's games that season, where he caught 41 of his 77 targets for 503 yards and four touchdowns.
