The Indianapolis Colts added key pieces to the offensive side of the ball. That is obviously headlined by first-round quarterback Anthony Richardson who is set to be the player that head coach Shane Steichen will build around.

But the Colts also addressed the defense, too. Indianapolis brings back talent on that side of the ball with defensive lineman DeForest Buckner and linebacker Shaq Leonard leading the way.

Indianapolis also made a free agency move to bolster the defense. The Colts signed former San Francisco 49ers defensive end Samson Ebukam to a three-year deal in March. Ebukam was brought in to improve the pass rush.

In fact, Ebukam had a bit of a breakout season while with the 49ers last season. He found his footing while playing with a talented defense, generating a 14.8% pressure rate – good for top-10 in the NFL, per Next Gen Stats.

The Colts are obviously hoping that carries over next season in his new home. Playing alongside the likes of Buckner and Kwity Paye should help Ebukam find some success in Indy. He sees his role being similar as it was in San Francisco.

“Basically, the same honestly," Ebukam said of how his role with the Colts compares to what it was with the 49ers. "Just get off the rock and try to make plays. It’s that simple.”

Furthermore, Ebukam believes that he's in store for big things in Indianapolis. He explained that he thinks he fits in well with the defense, which should lead to a promising campaign during the 2023 NFL season.

“Yeah, I definitely think so because it was the same thing I was doing in San Fran," Ebukam said of his fit. "I think it’s just more refined now. So, it’s definitely going to come alive this year I’m feeling like.”

Ebukam is not lacking any confidence as he enters his first season with the Indianapolis Colts. He looks to be hitting his stride at the right time in his career, which is a great sign for Indy.
