The NFL is releasing its full schedule for the 2023 regular season on Thursday but we've already learned about one critical game for the Indianapolis Colts.
The league made the historic announcement that it's playing five games as part of its International Series, a record number of regular season games in Europe in a single season.
That includes the Colts' trip to Germany!
That's right. Per the announcement, the Colts are heading to Frankfurt Stadium on November 12th, Week 10, to square off against the New England Patriots.
This will mark the first time since 2016 that the Colts have played abroad. In 2016, they played the AFC South rivals Jacksonville Jaguars at Wembley Stadium in London. The team has also played three international preseason games, the latest of which took place in 2010 in Toronto.
Here are all of the international games announced by the NFL on Wednesday:
- Week 4, Falcons vs. Jaguars (Wembley Stadium, London)
- Week 5, Jaguars vs. Bills (Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, London)
- Week 6, Ravens vs. Titans (Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, London)
- Week 9, Dolphins vs. Chiefs (Frankfurt Stadium, Frankfurt)
- Week 10, Colts vs. Patriots, (Frankfurt Stadium, Frankfurt)
Last year, the NFL's return to Germany was a very emotional one as fans of NFL Europe saw the league they grew to love return in spectacular fashion. As part of its international efforts, starting in 2022 the league is requiring every NFL team to host a home game at least once every eight years.
Expect the Colts to keep traveling over the next few years!
