Colts coach revealed that the team met with an unexpected top player at the scouting combine ahead of the 2026 NFL Draft
The Colts met with one of the top WRs in the upcoming 2026 NFL Draft at the scouting combine
The Indianapolis Colts met with multiple prospects during the annual NFL Scouting Combine as they prepare for the upcoming 2026 NFL Draft.
In terms of players you’d expect to see the Colts meet with at the combine, those you’d expect to see would be those who play positions the team needs to upgrade this offseason. Some of those would be linebacker, edge rusher, safety, and spots on the offensive and interior lines.
As long as Alec Pierce is extended, as many expect, wide receiver isn’t one of those needs. It doesn’t seem like that stopped the team from meeting with one of the top WR’s in the class, though. As WR coach Reggie Wayne confirmed, the team met with a player expected to hear his name called in the first two rounds on Tuesday.

Colts WR coach Reggie Wayne confirms that the team met with Texas A&M star KC Concepcion
Texas A&M star WR KC Concepcion is expected to hear his name called in the late part of the first round or sometime in the second. Following his time at the combine last week, there’s been a lot of chatter lately about his stutter, which people noticed during his podium time with the media. He took to Instagram story to respond to the chatter himself.
“I just wanna say something, if you have a speech impediment, there is nothing wrong with us. I have had this stutter since I can remember talking this is apart of me this is who I am I cannot control this. I wanna be a role model for those who may be scared to speak up who may be afraid and not confident in yourself. I stand with you I will always stand with youth is weekend has taught me a lot about myself and people out here in this world. I appreciate everyone who supports me and has reached out to me after these interviews. Don’t let a outside person thoughts, opinions get in the way of you being great of you achieving something in life. I am blessed to be in the position that I am in and I want to help give back to those who are scared to speak up who aren’t as confident. I stand with you I will always stand with you. We are different for a reason. God has blessed my life in a way I couldn’t even imagine in this past year. I love yall and support yall as we climb this mountain together ??? #stoptthenegativity” – KC Concepcion
Colts legendary WR and current WR coach Reggie Wayne seemed to be pretty impressed by this statement from Concepcion after it was posted on X. The WR decided to respond and share that his meeting with the young man was one of his most impressive of the week.
This was pretty cool to see Wayne take up for the young WR in this way on social media. His statement also confirms that the Colts met with Concepcion in some capacity, whether that be informal or formal.
The Colts are currently trying to figure out what their WR room will look like next year, with Alec Pierce set to be a free agent and Michael Pittman Jr.’s cap hit likely needing to be lowered for him to remain in Indianapolis.
If they were to lose one of those two WRs, it would be very plausible for WR to be a position the Colts would seriously consider with their first pick in the upcoming NFL Draft at pick 47 in the second round. I highly doubt Concpecion will make it to that pick, so if the Colts are interested in adding him, they would likely have to move up. He has the potential to be a great pro WR, though, and could make a lot of sense for Indy if they end up reshaping their starting group a bit this offseason.
