The Indianapolis Colts chose to pass on WR in the first round by selecting Laiatu Latu.

But they attacked the position in the 2nd round by selecting Texas WR Adonai Mitchell with the 52nd pick.

Mitchell began his college career at Georiga, where he had a pretty productive freshman year with 29 catches for 426 yards and four touchdowns. An injury his sophomore year led me to miss nine games, and he could only haul in nine catches for 134 yards and three touchdowns. That would end up being his final season at Georgia, as he would transfer to Texas for his final season in 2023. He set career highs across the board with 55 catches for 845 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Mitchell will enter training camp and compete with Alec Pierce for the team's starting Z WR role. He could develop into the big play WR the Colts have been looking for at 6'2", 205 lbs, with 4.34 (40-yard dash) speed. And with QB Anthony Richardson looking to take deep shots, I think there will be plenty of snaps to go around for both Mitchell and Pierce to split time next year. Mitchell was projected by many to be a first-round pick, and you could tell in his media availability after he was upset that he fell so far. So, hopefully, he lets that become a chip on his shoulder and begins his career with a vengeance. If he can reach the ceiling many project for him this could end up being one of the biggest steals in the 2024 NFL Draft.
