The Indianapolis Colts need to make some significant improvements to their roster ahead of next season, and a recent decision shows that they are willing to try just about anything to do so.

This shouldn’t come as a surprise, though, after all, this is the same team that signed Phillip Rivers out of retirement to start three of their final four games. This time, the Colts are making a move that is significantly more reasonable.

The team has signed LB Devon Veresuk to a reserve/future contract. The Colts have a clear need for more LBs, and Veresuk will be making his NFL debut after being drafted second overall in the 2025 CFL draft.

Colts sign CFL LB Devin Veresuk

Veresuk comes to the Colts after his rookie year in the CFL. He finished with 66 total tackles, two sacks, and an interception that he returned for a touchdown in 18 games with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. He earned the Frank M. Gibson trophy, which is awarded to the most outstanding rookie in the East Division of the CFL.

Veresuk played three years of college football at Windsor from 2022 to 2024. He appeared in 22 games over three years and recorded 160 total tackles, nine sacks, one interception, and five pass deflections.

He will turn 25 in November of this year and will hopefully get his shot to earn a roster spot in training camp. The Colts’ LB room lacks depth, and there are questions about whether starters Zaire Franklin and Germaine Pratt will return in 2026. So there’s a massive opportunity in front of Veresuk, and it’ll be interesting to see if he can capitalize on it.
