Colts add a 2025 rookie to add depth at a position of need ahead of the offseason and, more importantly, the 2026 season

The Colts’ season might be over, but they didn’t let that stop them from getting a jump start on adding to their roster ahead of next season.

For the fifth year in a row, the Indianapolis Colts will be watching the playoffs, just like most NFL fans, through a television screen. The team finished 8-9 and outside of the AFC playoff picture. They are now entirely focused on the upcoming offseason, aiming to return to the postseason in 2026.

They already completed the first step of offseason prep by announcing that general manager Chris Ballard and head coach Shane Steichen will return next season. Next up is figuring out who will be on the team’s roster when they take the field for training camp, and a recent move by the team had that in mind.

Colts claim former Buccaneers rookie LB John Bullock ahead of the offseason

Even though their season is over, the Colts are staying active. They claimed former Tampa Bay Buccaneers LB John Bullock off of waivers, bringing him onto their roster for the offseason, which will give him a chance to make their 2026 roster.

Bullock went undrafted in the 2025 NFL Draft. He dressed for 15 games for Tampa Bay this season and recorded 10 total tackles. The Colts have a significant need at LB, but that’s not the primary role they have in mind for Bullock, at least not for the 2026 season. Notably, all of his snaps came on special teams, making him a potential asset for Indianapolis’ special teams coordinator, Brian Mason.

Before making the jump to the NFL, Bullock played all four years of his collegiate career at Nebraska. He appeared in 47 games, recording 126 total tackles, 12.5 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks, and one interception. He overcame being undrafted and spent most of the year on the Buccaneers’ active roster. Now he will get the chance to do it again with the Colts.
