Since deciding to part ways with Gus Bradley, the Indianapolis Colts have been busy searching for their next defensive coordinator.

Colts are finishing up their last interview among their confirmed defensive coordinator candidates
The Colts have five confirmed candidates for their defensive coordinator position. Four of them have already completed their interviews. The fifth and final interview will be with former New Orleans Saints head coach Dennis Allen, who is reportedly scheduled to speak with the Colts today (Friday, January 17).
After that interview, the Colts will have spoken with all five of their current candidates. This means one of three things could happen next in their search: One, they offer the job to whoever impressed them the most. Two, they add more candidates to their list. Three, they move on to a second round of interviews with some of the candidates from the first round.
Either way, the Colts will check an important box of their hiring process once Allen's interview concludes today. I'm not sure which of the three directions mentioned above will happen next, but I can share what I would do. Right now, the Colts have an advantage over teams who are searching for a head coach. The longer they wait, the more teams will join them at the hiring coordinators stage. So, if they don't want more competition than they already have for multiple of their current candidates, they will aggressively pursue whoever stood out from this first round of interviews.
