The Indianapolis Colts didn’t choose to make any changes at the top with general manager Chris Ballard and head coach Shane Steichen returning in 2026. The team’s staff is going through some changes, though.

The team saw defensive line coach Charlie Partridge return to the college level, joining the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. And they are having to wait and see if some other top offensive staff members will land jobs elsewhere, as offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter and passing game coordinator Alex Tanney both interviewed for the Giants’ offensive coordinator opening.

Another change was just announced, though: the Colts are losing their game manager, Charlie Gelman, to the Baltimore Ravens.

Colts assistant Charlie Gelman is joining the Ravens

Gelman joined the Colts ahead of the 2023 season and spent the last three seasons with the team in a football analyst and game management role. This was his third job in the NFL, the two prior coming with the same team; he is leaving the Colts to join the Ravens.

He was a scouting analyics intern for Baltimore in 2019 and rejoined the team in 2021. He spent a year as a coach research intern and then landed his first full time job in the NFL as a football analyst in 2022.

He now returns to the Ravens and the Colts will have to decide if they want to fill Gelman’s role ahead of the 2026 season. It’ll be a big year for the team because even if they won’t officially say it they are operating under a playoff or bust mindset. Either they end their five year playoff drought or multiple people will be out of jobs.
