Questions surrounding Charvarius Ward’s future are at an all-time high after he suffered three different concussions in his first year with the Colts. If he does choose to retire, the team will again have a hole in its secondary that needs to be filled.

The Colts may be forced to add a significant name from this year’s CB free agents if Ward decides to hang up his cleats. And the Colts were listed as a strong fit to sign a former second-round pick who desperately needs a change of scenery.
Colts listed as a good fit to sign Bengals CB Cam Taylor-Britt
Cincinnati Bengals CB Cam Taylor-Britt came in as the seventh-highest-ranked free agent at his position. He also ranked as the 72nd overall free agent. He’s spent his entire career with the Bengals since the team selected him in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft.
For the first three years of his career, he played under defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo, who is now with the Colts. This included a stellar two-year showing in 2023 and 2024, during which he combined for 7 interceptions and 27 pass deflections.
He looked on the verge of a big extension in Cincinnati, but then his play fell off a cliff this past year after Anarumo departed from the Bengals. This included the CB being benched by the Bengals and being shopped at the trade deadline.

Ultimately, he wasn’t traded, and now he is set to hit free agency. A reunion with Anarumo could make sense for both sides, especially if Ward retires. Just two seasons ago, Taylor-Britt was playing his best football in Anarumo’s system. If anyone can help him get back on track, it’s Lou.
If Taylor-Britt signs elsewhere, he would have to learn a new system while also trying to earn a role on their defense next season. He already knows Anarumo’s system and has flourished in it. He would fit in Indy like a glove; the only question is whether the team will need a starter at CB.
