The NFL trade deadline this season is on October 31st. This means teams have less than three weeks to negotiate trades to improve their roster.
Sources have told A to Z Sports that the Indianapolis Colts are interested in trading for Denver Broncos WR Jerry Jeudy.
The Colts have had interest in acquiring Jerry Jeudy over the past two seasons. This time, though, it seems the Broncos will likely end up trading the WR. What would it take for the Colts to trade for Jeudy?
Potential Colts Trade Packages for Jerry Jeudy:
- Indianapolis Colts send: 2024 2nd Round Pick
- Denver Broncos send: Jerry Jeudy
This is likely the package the Broncos are hoping to get for Jeudy. I could see NFL teams being reluctant to trade this much for a WR they will also have to pay. But I think if the Colts are serious enough about Jeudy, a 2024 2nd would get the deal done.
- Indianapolis Colts send: 2024 3rd Round Pick & 2025 5th round pick
- Denver Broncos send: Jerry Jeudy
I think this deal is likely what the Colts would prefer to do, as opposed to their 2nd round pick. Trading a 3rd next year and a day-three pick in 2025 gives the Broncos two picks instead of one towards their upcoming rebuild and allows Chris Ballard to keep his 2nd next year in a very deep draft class.
- Indianapolis Colts send: Conditional 2024 3rd round pick that becomes a 2nd if the Colts make the playoffs, & 2025 5th round pick
- Denver Broncos send: Jerry Jeudy
Taking what I believe the Broncos and Colts would prefer to get in this trade, I made a deal where both could compromise to get a deal done. If the Broncos are dead set on the getting a 2nd round pick, the Colts could offer them a conditional 3rd rounder that turns into a 2nd only if they make the playoffs this season. The Broncos get a 2025 day-three pick on top of what could still turn into a 2nd, so they risk more, but they'd be getting a day-three pick in 2025 to take that risk. Now, if another team is willing to send a 2nd outright, the Colts would risk being outbid for Jeudy, so at the end of the day, it just comes down to how much the team wants the WR.
