The 2024 pro-day cycle continued with the runners-up to the National Championship on Thursday at the University of Washington.
And the Indianapolis Colts were among many teams with personnel on hand.
The Huskies (Washington) reached the National Championship game last season before losing to Michigan. They are posed to have among the highest number of players selected in the upcoming NFL Draft.
It seems the top Colts staff member in attendance was offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter. Cooter is entering his second season as the Colts' offensive coordinator under head coach Shane Steichen. While he has been to other pro days, this seems to be the first time he was the top staff member.
Offensive Washington players in the 2024 NFL Draft:
- Rome Odunze, WR
- Troy Fautanu, OT/G
- Ja'Lynn Polk, WR
- Jalen McMillian, WR
- Michael Penix Jr., QB
- Roger Rosengarten, OT
- Dillon Johnson, RB
- Devin Culp, TE
- Jack Westover, TE
It seems important to note that the Colts didn't send WR coach Reggie Wayne to watch the talented trio of WRs at Washington in Odunze, Polk, and McMillian. Wayne has been busy at multiple top WR pro days this offseason, such as LSU, Oregon, and Texas. I think the Colts will have Odunze ranked very high on their draft board, and if he was there at 15, I could see him being a favorite to be their first-round pick. But many believe Odunze will already be off the board, and he chose not to participate at his pro day after a strong performance at the Scouting Combine. So it doesn't shock me that the Colts didn't send their full brass to Washington.
The Colts worked out a long-time divisional rival
The Colts brought a free-agent DB, who they should be very familiar with, in for a visit.
