The Indianapolis Colts roster is currently on break until the teams Training Camp kicks off during late July.

And there are a few veterans who are in danger of not making the Colts' roster.

Colts veterans whose roster spots are in danger

Sam Ehlinger

Ehlinger has been the only constant in the Colts QB room over the years. He has been the backup QB and QB 3 on the depth chart ever since making the team's 53-man roster as a rookie in 2021. He has even filled in as the starting QB for three games. But that was under a different offensive coaching staff.

Ehlinger's lack of arm strength would limit head coach Shane Steichen's offensive playcalling significantly. I don't think it's a coincidence that the Colts prioritized signing rookie QBs on the undrafted free-agency market. They landed Kedon Slovis and Jason Bean, both of which I think are real competition for Ehlinger. But Slovis is the name I'm watching closely for the upcoming QB 3 battle.

Mo Alie-Cox

The Colts battle at TE is going to be one of their most intense come Training Camp. With them having five TEs who have had significant roles with the team over the years, and there are likely only three or four roster spots. The player who seems to be on the outside looking is Mo Alie-Cox, who is the most turned Colts member of the TE room. The upside is simply higher with the players such as Kylen Granson, Jelani Woods, Will Mallory, and Drew Ogletree.

Danny Pinter

Danny Pinter missed all of last season after suffering an injury during Training Camp. His job as the backup center didn't seem in question until the Colts drafted Tanor Bortolini out of Wisconsin. Pinter has struggled mightily when he's been asked to play guard, which makes it even harder for him to make the Colts roster if they elect to make Bortolini the backup to Ryan Kelly. And with Bortolini offering high upside as a future starter I think he honestly has the upper hand for the backup center job over Pinter.
