The 8-2 Colts are finally getting the respect they deserve.
The Indianapolis Colts came away with the win in Week 10 against the Atlanta Falcons. They are now tied for the best record in the NFL at 8-2 and get some much-needed time off with their bye in Week 11. It comes at the perfect time, with a tough stretch of games waiting for them on the other side. The first being a road game to take on the reigning AFC champs, the Kansas City Chiefs. And the matchup is officially being treated like one of the top games on the Week 12 slate.
Colts and Chiefs assigned elite broadcast crew for Week 12 matchup
The Colts and Chiefs going head-to-head is a battle of two of the best teams in the AFC. In terms of odds to represent the conference in the Super Bowl, this matchup has two of the three odds-on favorites. As a result, CBS has assigned its top broadcast crew, Jim Nantz and Tony Romo, to cover the game.
This crew doesn’t typically get assigned a game in the 1 p.m. slot, but the network clearly views this game as one of the top games of the week, despite the start time not reflecting that. This will be the first game this season that Nantz and Romo will call a Colts game, while they are quite familiar with calling games that include Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs.
Week 12 has a pretty solid slate of primetime games, which is why the Colts and Chiefs matchup wasn’t flexed. The week starts with the Houston Texans and Buffalo Bills on Thursday Night Football, and a battle of NFC contenders will be showcased on Sunday Night Football with the Los Angeles Rams hosting the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The worst prime time matchup is arguably Monday Night Football with the San Francisco 49ers hosting the Carolina Panthers. But the league elected to keep the Colts and Chiefs in the 1 pm slot.
