Colts’ Week 14 matchup with the Jaguars is being impacted by something entirely out of their control
The Colts game plan vs. the Jaguars in Week 14 is going to have to change dramatically thanks to the expected weather likely playing a factor.
The Indianapolis Colts already have a bit of a boogeyman complex when it comes to playing on the road against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The team hasn’t won in Jacksonville since 2014, and a recent update won’t make it any easier.
The weather forecast for Jacksonville on Sunday is now calling for heavy and consistent rain throughout the game. This, combined with some slight wind, will make for rough playing conditions.
Heavy rain in store for the Colts and Jaguars Week 14 matchup
Rain and wind, playing a factor, aren’t ideal for the Colts. The Jaguars’ defense has struggled this season, allowing explosive pass plays, while their run defense has been a significant strength. The Jaguars’ defense is 27th in defensive success rate against the pass this season, but an impressive 3rd against the run.
This would have been a good game for Jones and the passing offense to get hot early and try to replicate the early-season success they had. This allowed them to get up early in games and then turn to Jonathan Taylor in the second half to keep the ball away from opponents.
Now, it seems that both teams will need to rely heavily on their run games in this matchup. That favors the Jaguars, who get to fade a struggling Colts run defense. I refuse to doubt Taylor, though, who has put the Colts on his back multiple times this year already. Pressure is at an all-time high for the season, though. A win puts the Colts back in the driver’s seat for the AFC South, while a loss could put them in third place by the week’s end.
