With Week 1 of the NFL season upon us, it also means the beginning of something even more intense.
The start of the fantasy football season.
We will all tinker with our lineups hundreds of times before the afternoon slate begins on Sunday. Before the Indianapolis Colts season kicks off, here are players you should start/sit this week.
Sit/Start:
Start: Michael Pittman Jr.

If there is a Colts player I feel the most comfortable starting in my fantasy leagues for Week 1, it is WR Michael Pittman Jr. His last outing against the Jaguars Is one of Pittman Jr.’s best games of his career.
- Week 6: 13 receptions, 134 yards
The Jaguars' secondary remains one of the most questionable spots on their roster. And with the Colts expecting a more explosive passing attack under Shane Steichen, the team's most proven WR should expect Anthony Richardson to call his number a solid amount Sunday.
Sit: Colts RB room

Whenever a fantasy player hears that a team will deploy “RB by committee,” they cower in fear. With an already hard-to-gauge situation brewing with Jonathan Taylor and the Colts, the team will now roll with a three-person committee with Zack Moss (when healthy), Deon Jackson, and rookie Evan Hull.
As the Colts figure out how to maneuver the RB position without Jonathan Taylor, I suggest steering clear from the room as a whole. This means not starting any of the Colts RBs Week 1 vs. the Jacksonville Jaguars. In dynasty leagues, stashing rookie Evan Hull as a wait-and-see project would be wise though.
Start: Matt Gay

Nothing like a start/sit fantasy conversation discussing a kicker. But Matt Gay has been one of the most accurate kickers in the NFL over the past few seasons, which led the Colts to offer him the largest free agency deal a kicker has ever signed in the NFL.
Another element that should bode well for Gay, is that the Colts will be starting a rookie QB. And one of the areas young QBs tend to struggle with early is in the red zone. This could lead to long drives stalling out as Richardson gets comfortable in the NFL which will increase Gay's chances at field goal attempts.
Sit: Colts Defense

The Colts defense in years past has been a respectable fantasy option but they could be in for some early struggles to begin the season. The team will be starting one of the younger secondaries in the NFL which could result in some rough days as they earn their stripes in the NFL.
The Jaguars add a new weapon to Trevor Lawrence's disposal this season with Calvin Ridley and I expect the team to unleash him at will. Last year the Jaguars newest WR was Christian Kirk, and in his first game against the Colts he was certainly the featured WR for the team's game plan, as he would put up a stat line of:
Week 2: 6 receptions, 78 yards, and 2 touchdowns
Start: Anthony Richardson

Starting a rookie QB for his first game in the NFL may sound like a risk, but I believe the reward is worth it. Quarterbacks who can use their legs thrive in fantasy, a few in recent years being Jalen Hurts, Justin Fields, and Lamar Jackson. Richardson tested out as the most athletic QB in scouting combine history this year, and the Colts are sure to lean on his athleticism as the rookie develops as a passer throughout the season.
With the Colts running game expected to take a significant hit with the absence of star RB Jonathan Taylor, Richardson will need to pick up some of that slack. One area, in particular, I'd look for Steichen to use Richardson is in the red zone in a similar way we saw him have success with Jalen Hurts last season.
