The Indianapolis Colts announced the signing of a 2021 3rd-round pick Tuesday afternoon.
The team has added RB Trey Sermon to their practice squad, a part of multiple roster moves.
The San Francisco 49ers drafted Trey Sermon with the 88th pick in the 3rd round of the 2021 NFL Draft. Sermon spent time with two different universities in college. His first three years were with Oklahoma University, and his final year was spent with Ohio State University.
- 2017: Oklahoma
121 rushes, 744 yards, 5 touchdowns - 2018: Oklahoma
164 rushes, 947 yards, 13 touchdowns - 2019: Oklahoma
54 rushes, 385 yards, 4 touchdowns - 2020: Ohio State
116 rushes, 870 yards, 4 touchdowns
Sermon wouldn't stick with the 49ers as after one season, he would be released and move on with the Philadelphia Eagles, where his offensive coordinator last season was now Colts head coach Shane Steichen.
While Sermon was only added to the practice squad, I can see this move leading to him on the team's active roster. The Eagles waived Sermon from their IR list this past weekend, which means he may need to recover from an injury before he can join the Colts active roster. So, we will monitor this situation going forward.
