Sep 10, 2023; Indianapolis, Indiana, USA; Indianapolis Colts defensive tackle DeForest Buckner (99) forces a fumble while tackling Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence (16) in the second half at Lucas Oil Stadium.

More and more metrics continue to show that DeForest Buckner's Week 1 performance was elite.

DeForest Buckner graded out 2nd in the entire NFL in the pass-rushing department by PFF.

Buckner filled the stat sheet in Week 1:

  • 6 Tackles
  • 1 Sack
  • 1 Forced fumble
  • 1 Touchdown

Even more impressive is the fact that Buckner saw double teams the majority of the afternoon. This will likely be his reality all season long. This is arguably the most talented defensive line the team has had since Buckner joined the team, which could open up possibilities for others on the line, such as Kwity Paye, Samson Ebukam, Dayo Odeyingbo, and Grover Stewart.
